Adalogical Ænigma #5

Greetings, gentle patron!
If you are encountering difficulty making progress on my fifth ænigma, perhaps you'll find relief in some or all of the following pedagogical aids.
First, I have collected a small assortment of advisory notes, or ‘tips’ as one might say, which are enumerated a bit below on this page.
Second, concerning the example puzzle shown on the ænigma paper, I've penned a detailed description of how one might go about solving it.
Finally, if you remain perplexed or frustrated even after perusing that narrative, I have prepared further pages comprising hints on attacking the main ænigma itself. Those pages progress in stepwise fashion, each page revealing only a little more of the solution at a time. You may thus easily read just as far as you require to escape the cognitive quagmire of the moment, without the risk of seeing too much and spoiling what remains of your solving experience.

General advice for solving the current ænigma

  1. As with so many ænigmas, it is ever so much easier to proceed when one has as much contextual information as possible. In this case, many gates are only wide enough to admit a single location at which your slalom course will pass through them. Pray do not hesitate to draw in these ‘forced’ gate passages for all of the applicable gates, right at the beginning of your labours. Doing so will immediately grant you sufficient information to make a little further progress on several fronts.
  2. As alluded to above, progress toward the solution to this ænigma will come almost entirely in the form of small, incremental steps, each adding but a few segments to the end of some bit of path. Do not endeavour to rush ahead, attempting to guess or otherwise ascertain great lengths of slalom course in one fell swoop. The whole of your solution will come as the sum of many steps; “patience” and “perseverence” must be your watchwords.
  3. The great majority of the deductions on the path to your solution will be relatively straightforward. The difficulty will come in determining where on the grid each deduction is to be found. Seek out locations where your options are most restricted, where some path end can only be extended in one of two directions. Quite often, there will be multiple such locations, but in at least one of them, a simple analysis of the cases will readily yield results.
  4. In each such case analysis, use your intuition to guess which of the two possibilities is most likely. Then do something you might find rather surprising: concentrate your analysis on the other option, the one you concluded was less likely! If your intuition was correct (and you must trust that it quite likely was), then your analysis of the opposite choice will most probably yield a contradiction in very few steps indeed, thereby proving your intuition correct!
